Condenser Fan Motor or Blade

Knocking noises from the bottom or behind the refrigerator could indicate a problem with the condenser fan or it’s motor. The condenser fan helps cool the condenser coils and evaporate any water in the drip pan tray. The fan’s motor may be faulty resulting in a knocking noise. The fan blades can also be dirty or broken. Remove the panel behind the fridge to access and inspect the condenser fan. If the blades of the fan are clean and move freely, then the motor may be the issue and will need to be replaced.
