Washers and dryers that are sold today have a life expectancy from 10 – 14 years, depending on who you ask. To make sure you are getting the full life expectancy out of your washer and dryer, here are some tips.
How to Make Your Washer Last
- Check your inlet or fill hoses every year for leaks and damage. Change your hoses every five years. Over time, rubber hoses can weaken, leak, or even burst, which can lead to catastrophic water damage in your home.
- Use HE laundry detergent in HE washers and be sure to use only the amount necessary.
- Run your machine using full-loads (but not overstuffed) as smaller loads tend to easily become unbalanced.
- Clean your machine regularly.
