Since the end of summer is coming up within a few weeks, it’s time to get the house ready for winter so you can save money and be happy about it. Below are a few tips for the end of Summer maintenance.

  1. Air flow

It is important to check the air vents, room fans, dryer vents (should be frequently checked), baseboards, heaters, and air conditioning units for any major dust or dirt build up. This will help with air flow, which is a must in the winter with all of the windows closed. Thoroughly cleaning the dust particles that linger will help with preventing any congestion in the air.

  1. Heat

Check the heating units. Whether this is done professionally or not, they should be checked for optimum usage. The furnace filters should be checked and replaced as well as making sure the unit itself is well off for the Winter season.

  1. Driveways and walkways

Make sure there are no cracks in the driveway or walkways. The cold weather can make the cracks worse by wearing and eroding the surface. Fill in the crack with the proper product based on the type of surface to prevent the cracks from worsening.

  1. Clean the gutter

Gutters are going to begin to fill up with leaves so it is important for people to maintain and clean them before the fall hits. Debris build up can become hazardous at any time, but especially during the winter. So remove any leaves or twigs that may have been hanging out in there since the beginning of Summer.  Afterwards, check to see if the gutter is working properly by pouring some water into it and making sure it flows and drains the correct way. Correct as in away from the house and into and bucket or the yard.
